Poetry On Tap

Recap: Jasmine Donahaye and Gemma June Howell at Poetry on Tap

Our 5th event was, yet again, a joyous delight – thanks to all of you who came along to help make it so! Jasmine Donahaye‘s thoughtful and engaging works, and Gemma June Howell’s powerful performance poems have brought some great feedback from attendees: Leona Carpenter of Mulfran Press, for example, states that, in her opinion, Poetry on Tap showcases “great combinations of featured readers and open mic readers”. She singles out the “postman poem” by first-time reader Bev Lennon as one of PoT’s special delights yesterday, although *all* readers, as usual, gave great contributions to the event. Congrats to Amanda Rackstraw and Mikey B for being the judges’ faves, and for winning the prizes kindly donated by Mslexia magazine and Honno Press.

We hope that the mothers attending the Mother’s Day edition of PoT enjoyed their complimentary copies of Mslexia, also. And, that you all felt suitably entertained by local music artist Ninjah‘s unexpected contribution to the event – a short song/eulogy dedicated to late ‘Cardiff character’ Shakey Hands Man (!).
